Second World War

At the end of the Second World War, most of Europe was in ruins. This included libraries. If you wanted to read, you had to search for a book.  It wasn’t easy and, as you can see here, there will always be someone looking to better themselves. Reading IS educating and the one thing bullets and bombs cannot destroy is what you pack between your ears. Next time you think reading ‘isn’t that important,’ remember, these people didn’t think so.
